The Journal of Iranian Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal affiliated with the Faculty of Letters and Humanities at the University of Tehran, dedicated to expanding and promoting knowledge in the fields of Iranian history, culture, language, literature, and civilization. This quarterly journal publishes up to four issues per year and provides a platform for disseminating original and innovative research across various areas of Iranian studies, with articles that analyze and examine the diverse dimensions of "Cultural Iran"—including history and archaeology, Persian literature and linguistics, ancient languages, philosophy, mysticism, religion, art, anthropology, folklore, subcultures, handicrafts, and local customs. In its earlier period, the journal was published under the supervision of the late Dr. Mozaffar Bakhtiar and the late Dr. Iraj Afshar as managing editor, with the collaboration of a distinguished group of prominent Iranian and international scholars, including Mehdi Haeri Yazdi, Abbas Zaryab Khui, Manouchehr Sotoudeh, Seyyed Jafar Shahidi, Mahyar Navabi, Hafez Farmanfarmaeian, Mehdi Mohaghegh, Mojtaba Minovi, and Ezzatollah Negahban from Iran, as well as Seyyed Hossein Nasr, H.R. Roemer, Adnan Erzi, G. Scarcia, J.A. Boyle, R.M. Savory, J.B. Asmussen, J. Aubin, Hesamoddin Rashidi, G. Lazard, F. Meier, Eid al-Ghani Mirzayev, Mir Hussein Shah, Nazir Ahmad, K. Yan, and others from abroad, all of whom significantly enriched the journal. Subsequently, in line with the decision of the authorities of the Faculty and the University of Tehran aimed at enhancing quality and specialization, the former general journal of the Faculty of Letters was divided into several specialized journals, one of which is the Journal of Iranian Studies, which continues its mission independently. According to letter no. 100159, dated 6 September 2011, from the National Scientific Publications Commission of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, this journal holds the official "Scientific-Research" academic rank. The Journal of Iranian Studies seeks to familiarize the academic community with the latest research achievements in the field of Iranian studies, contribute to the preservation and understanding of Iran's cultural heritage, and provide a specialized forum for scholarly exchange among researchers; building upon its rich academic and historical legacy, the journal continuously welcomes high-quality, original research articles in all areas related to Iranian studies.
