Basically, these sources are invaluable for two groups: for ordinary people in terms of informations contained in them for researchers in their research his. By the formation of human communities, primitivman always been in search of his identity and trying to differentiate himself from the others. As the time went by and the human communities became more populated, identification became one of the most prominent aspects of the society and various types of methods were exploited in which issuing identity documents was very decisive. Creating identity followed by the concept of identity documents was the production and the result of the second half of the first modern Pahlavi government (1931-1942). Through all kinds of identity documents, marriage contracts have a lot of values and juridical view points of from historical. In the second half of the Reza Shah, h’s government, following this project, all the authorities who were in charge of marriage offices were obliged to clarify the husband and wife identity. As a result, the historical process of continuity and evolution in marriage contracts were considered in consolidation of Iranian identity. از جمله منابع دست اول و مهم در مطالعات تاریخی اسنادند که بازگوکنندۀ حیات سیاسی، اجتماعی و فرهنگی عصر و زمانه خودند. این منبع مهم برای مردم عادی، از لحاظ اطلاعات مندرج در آنها، و برای استفاده محققین، در فعالیت­های تحقیقاتی، دارای ارزش و اهمّیت است. با شکل­گیری اجتماعات بشری، انسان­های اولیه در جستجوی هویت خود و متمایز ساختن خویش بودند. با گذر زمان و افزایش جمعیت جوامع گوناگون، شناسایی هویتی افراد بیشتر مورد توجه قرار گرفته و روش­های مختلفی برای شناسایی به کار گرفته شده که مهمترین آنها صدور اسناد هویتی برای افراد جامعه بوده است. طرح هویت­سازی و به دنبال آن طرح اسناد هویتی محصول و نتیجۀ پیدایش نیمۀ ­دوم دولت پهلوی اول بوده است. عقدنامه­های ازدواج (نکاح­نامه) از نمونۀ اسناد هویتی هستند که به دلیل اطلاعات مندرج در آنها، بالاخص مباحث هویتی آن، از لحاظ تاریخی و حقوقی حائز اهمیت­اند. در نیمۀ دوم دولت رضاشاه،  به دنبال این طرح هویت­سازی، مسئولین دفاتر ازدواج برای ثبت هر سند موظف به احراز هویت زوجین بودند و بدین ترتیب روند تاریخی تداوم و تحول سند ازدواج در تثبیت هویت ایرانی مورد توجه قرار گرفت https://jis.ut.ac.ir/article_57519_28990b5ddc34617d4cf16f30c70a9c94.pdf
