The Khwarazmshahi which were supposed to change into one of the greatest medieval dynasties led the course of political changes in a different direction.  After having conquered the Saljuq dynasty, the Khwarazmshahi chose a centralized political structure. But the selection of Khwarazm as the only center of power and the lack of continuous connection with their vast territory caused the fast decline of Khwarazmshahi power. On the basis of original resources, this article explores the relationship between the geographical scope of a dynasty and its political structure. Moreover, this paper examines the causes of Khwrazmshahi’s decline with regards to its political structure and the selection of Khwarazm as the capital.</span> <br /><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span> <br />  <span style="color: black; font-family: 'B Nazanin';" lang="FA"><span style="font-size: medium;">قلمرو جغرافیایی هر حکومت و انتخاب مرکزیتی مناسب برای آن می‌تواند ضامن استقرار قدرت و تداوم حاکمیت باشد، امری که به نظر می‌رسد در حکومت خوارزمشاهی (628-596 ه. ق) چندان مورد توجه قرار نگرفته است. خوارزمشاهیان که انتظار می‌رفت به یکی از بزرگ‌ترین حکومت‌های تاریخ میانه ایران تبدیل شوند، با شکست از مغولان صحرانشین، جریان تغییرات تاریخ ایران را به مسیری دیگر هدایت کردند. آنها پس از شکست حکومت سلجوقی و تصرف بخش وسیعی از قلمرو ایشان، سعی کردند با برگزیدن حکومتی متمرکز راهی متفاوت از سلجوقیان برای بقای خویش بپیمایند. ولی انتخاب خوارزم به عنوان تنها مرکز قدرت و گسستن رشته پیوند با بخش‌های داخلی قلمرو، زمینه عدم استقرار قدرت حکومت خوارزمشاهی و در نتیجه از هم پاشیدن سریع قدرت ایشان را فراهم ساخت. این مقاله سعی دارد رابطه موقعیت جغرافیای و انسانی پایتخت و ساختار قدرت را با توجه به منابع دست اوّل در حکومت خوارزمشاهی بررسی کرده و علل عدم استقرار قدرت سلسله خوارزمشاهی را در بی توجهی به پیوند شکل حکومت و انتخاب پایتخت مورد بررسی قرار دهد، امری که به نظر می‌رسد تا کنون مورد توجه جدی قرار نگرفته است.</span></span><br /> <span style="color: black; font-family: 'B Nazanin';" lang="FA"><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></span><br />   https://jis.ut.ac.ir/article_36345_1e66ac5aaa449d081b875adf47402bf5.pdf
